Planning an Easter Wedding

Easter is a great time of year to get married, with all those pastel spring colors which are ideal for weddings, and they are just perfect for an Easter celebration.
Gorgeous Easter pastel colors are the symbolic nature colors of springtime. If you’re planning an Easter wedding, Easter colors are that favorite part of spring which is always surrounded by beautiful floral designs and spring bright colors.

Creating an Easter wedding theme is a piece of cake. I would recommend using pretty pastel shades, as these are very popular around springtime and suit the fresh feel of the season. Dress your bridesmaids in lighter shades and use venue decorations in lilac, baby pink, lemon and mint. Think Mini Egg colours and you’ve got the theme spot on! Pom poms, paper decorations and hanging lanterns are perfect for this.

Easter eggs in a basket also make brilliant centre pieces. This theme is great for kids, as you can get them to decorate their own eggs, either on paper or on actual eggs. If your venue has gardens or grounds, you can also organise a huge Easter egg hunt to keep them entertained! We bet even the adults will be joining in before long :)

Spring Wedding Inspiration

I don't know about you but I just can't wait for Spring to arrive properly. I am dreaming of sunny days and flowers blooming and of course our Spring weddings!

Everyone loves Spring especially after the dark cold days of Winter and it is becoming increasingly popular with wedding couples. The beautiful pastel palettes of Spring colour are truly refreshing.

How do you choose your color? It’s easy really, make sure you choose a color that you love and that really reflects your personality and persona. If cool pastel shades don’t really agree with your fiery loud personality then it may seem strange to guests, so make sure it really says you. Consider how to mix your colors, don’t just stick to one, and why not try using a stronger accent color to help blend in with your chosen color. Don’t be afraid to stick to these colors, choose a darker shade or lighter tint of some of these popular colors, you’ll still be on trend but using it to your advantage.

I hope you feel inspired!

Wedding Planning Checklist

Even the most organised among us need checklists! Here is a great guide to help you get started - 12 months and counting!

  • Have a discussion to see what you both would/would not like.
  • Start a guest list and revisit it often.
  • Do a budget.
  • Decide who is paying for what – and will you accept help from family.
  • It may not be a bad idea to take out wedding insurance - just in case!
  • Decide what season you would like and set the date.
  • Book ceremony venue.
  • Visit and book your reception venue.
  • Decide who you would like to be your bridesmaids and groomsmen and ask them if they are happy to do it.
  • Decide what kind of entertainment you want, for the ceremony and the venue.

  • Research and consider options for your venue and ceremony decor.
  • Research and book photographer, videographer, band, and wedding planner if desired. Check with your Wedding Venue, they will often recommend suppliers.
  • Have a look online to see what wedding gowns are popular and create a Pinterest Board for the ones you like.
  • Book an appointment with a few different bridal shops.
  • Why not send a 'Save the Date' card just to give friends and family advance notice.
  • Are you planning on doing anything yourself, make a list of DIY projects that need doing and ask your bridal party to help.
  • Start a wedding website or planning diary to make sure nothing is missed!

Happy Planning!

Top 5 Wedding Trends for 2015

And so a new year begins! Happy New Year to all our couples past, present and future from everyone at Powerscourt Estate and Feast Catering.

2014 was a phenomenal year for Weddings at Powerscourt! We had a great start to the year with an early spring wedding and then went on to have some terrific summer, autumn and winter weddings too..... So a new year and to get planning for the year ahead I have put together the top 5 wedding trends for 2015. I hope you will be inspired!

GLAM IS BACK
Yes the glitz and glam style in wedding dresses is back in 2015. Off the shoulder, long sleeves and lace are making a come back this year. Soft flowing fabrics make for that glamorous look and intimate lace adds an element of romance.

TEXTURED WEDDING CAKES
The naked wedding cake trend has by no means gone away for 2015 but we are now seeing an emerging trend for textured cakes such a ruffles and textured designs.

Bake My Cake

AFTERNOON TEA

Downton Abbey is still popular and it is certainly inspiring wedding planners and stylists. China is still very much in for the coming year. Garden party style weddings are very much in trend and creates a lovely relaxed and homely ambiance.
Me Auld China

PHOTO FRENZY
Professional engagement shoots are all the rage and couples are starting to use these photos in their 'save the date' and wedding stationery. It's a nice personalised touch!
Save The Date
FLORAL GREENERY
Yes you read it right leafy bouquets and table centre pieces is the trend for wedding flowers in 2015. There are so many options so ask your florist to do up some examples for you. Personally I like the unstructured, less formal look of using lots of greenery!
